Personal Responsibility Or Government Intervention

The VP debate in St. Louis has finally given Governor Sarah Palin the much needed respect that she has not been given by the liberal media. Several news organizations had wrote her off and had expected her to blunder her way through the debates and not be a serious broker. Although Joe Biden did show that his vast knowledge and experience on foreign policy made him a formidable foe, he didn't connect with the American people. The measure of a quality candidate isn't always the campaign political rhetoric that has been over played in the political arena for years, it the ability to gain the trust of the people whom they wish to serve. Yes, Biden has been around the Washington loop for several years, is he a bad candidate, no. He is just a political liability for the US in times when we need to ensure that the best days for the US are in front and not looking back. Obama/Biden administration tells us they can fix the partisan bickering in Washington. They can lessen the current economic struggles of American families. Their plans are nothing more than progressive liberal talking points with the bottom lines being nothing but increased government and redistribution of wealth. Palin reinforced the principles that made the conservatives what they are. We need less government, less taxes and to be a leader in the world economically, politically and socially. Put our faith in the places where faith is best served, with God and not with broken social programs that do nothing but over burden the American worker. McCain has never been the poster child of conservatism, but he does have proven track record of bi-partisanship. There are very clear fundamental differences from both candidates. Both, I believe want the best, but it is in the manner in which they are achieved. Either with conservative theory of increased personal responsibility or with just simple liberal government intervention.

So true! I think pretty much we know the platform of the parties but don't underestimate the power of relating to the people on a personal level. She was extremely well poised and impressive in her obvious relaxed state. You could tell she was comfortable and confident - the way WE want to be as Americans. There is something to be said for having people think you are unintelligent and going to bumble the whole thing, just to come out strong. Yes, I also agree that Biden did well and had his points and didn't roll over but she was the one that people wanted to hear speak and she did not disappoint. LOVE that woman!

(This blog is acting buggy - I had to re-write this comment as it closed away twice.something like this...)

So true! I think we know each parties platform but don't underestimate being able to relate to the people in a personal way. I think Palin was poised and well-spoken and showed us that she understood the issues. She appeared comfortable and confident - that is what we Americans want to be! There is some power when they have such low expectations for her and she comes out strong! LOVE that woman!
