Halloween is a time of trick or treat however recently the media has focused more on the trick. In Hollywood, CA and in Lexington, KY have both played the trick card but neither one was in good taste. The difference was simply a matter of party choice. In Hollywood a home owner decided to have a mannequin of Sarah Palin hanging by a noose from a roof. In Lexington, a mannequin of Obama hanging from a tree. By no means are either in anyway acceptable nor funny. Now comes the difference in reporting from the media outlets. While we have the likeness of Sarah Palin hanging from a roof, the media first called it a protest. Okay, I can live with that, but still do not agree with the act. Then yesterday on the UK campus we have media reporting of an Obama effigy. Effigy? Now that is taking sides now isn't it?
It is no secret that for years the media fascination with democrats have been rubbed in the face of conservatives. Now we have Obama who has been rather successful in his Pied Piper act and charmed the media once again. So why is it there can be a protest of a Republican VP candidate and an 'effigy' of the democratic presidential candidate? This just proves how the news coverage of the candidates is so very skewed toward a Liberal States of America.
Let's say the polls are accurate and November 5th we will be introduced to President elect Obama. Just as we had more than our fair share of Bush bashers and protesters, I am sure that there will be the same for Obama. Or will there? If anyone dares speak out against Obama, be it verbal or by effigy, the labels will fly and brands will be inserted. Racists. I see that the Secret Service will have its share of work cut out for them. Just as they arrived in Lexington to investigate the Obama effigy. Yes, they did respond to the Palin protest however, they didn't seem as concerned, or so the media reports. Much like Biden has said that Obama will be tested in his first 6 months in office, so shall the First Amendment. Hate crimes accusations will increase exponentially simply because the commander in chief is a black man. Never mind the words Hillary and 'spirited' debate, it will be racist citizens protesting a landmark event in the course of American history. Much like the past, weshould expect the double standard to fall upon the side of the liberal democrats. It is acceptable for them to protest George Bush, he is a white male Republican, protesting a black liberal democrat is criminal.

The really awful part is that if anyone speaks out against Obama they will be called a racist. That is just so sad.
